Dr. Saurabh Nene is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, IIT Jodhpur from August 2020. His academic journey started at College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) where he finished his Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgical Engineering in 2010 followed by completing Masters of Technology in Materials Science from IIT Bombay in 2012. He started his PhD immediately in 2012 under a joint venture of IIT Bombay, India and Monash University, Australia and finished it in 3.5 years (2016). He joined his Alma matter COEP as Adjunct Professor in Dept. Metallurgy and Materials for a semester from July 2016 till Jan 2017 and moved to Centre for Friction Stir Processing, University of North Texas as Post-Doctoral Research Associate in March 2017 till August 2020.  

 

        Prof. Saurabh has got interest in materials research while perusing his B.Tech project at COEP and then worked in variety of areas like Polymers and composites, High Temperature Deformation Behavior, Mg alloy design for bio-implants and High Entropy Alloy Design. His work on ultralight Mg-4Li-1Ca alloy design work was noted by most reputed Materials Science Magazine “Materials Today” and he received best PhD thesis award from IIT Bombay and Monash University in 2016.

        His recent work on High Entropy Alloy Design at CFSP, UNT, USA has been noted by reputed news channels as a significant scientific contribution in the field. He as published more than 30 international research paper in the HEA field in the span of 2.5 years and more than 400 citations to his credit. He has published more than 50 International research papers in all reputed materials science journals which are having more than 500 citations till date.
